Primary PE and Sport Premium Funding 2023/24
evidencing the impact of primary sport premium 2023-24 july
At Wyken Croft we are passionate about providing an outstanding level of physical education and providing our children with the opportunity to achieve at their highest level. We believe that sports participation and achievement is essential in a child’s development while also allowing them to grow in confidence, learn and develop social and physical skills and experience the enjoyment that sports provides.
What is PE and sport premium? The primary PE and sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport (DfE, DH, DCMS). The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and is ring-fenced. This means it may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools.
The Vision for PE and Sports Premium is:
VISION: All pupils at Wyken Croft Primary School will be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
OBJECTIVE: To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport at Wyken Croft Primary School. We would expect indicators of such improvement to include
- the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles
- the profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
- increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
- broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
- more cross federation opportunities for sporting events involving children from across the federation
- more involvement in friendly and competitive competitions using local school and cross city schools
- increase the capacity to hold sporting events at Wyken Croft through utilising the school grounds
